Comments on "The Things They Carried"
"There were red checkers and black checkers. The playing field was laid out in a strict grid, no tunnels or mountains or jungles. You knew where you stood. You knew the score. The pieces were out on the board, the enemy was visible, and you could watch the tactics unfolding into larger strategies. There was a winner and a loser. There were rules" - O’Brian
-I feel this was a game, a very important game.
I think this is an important game because in every game their is a winner and a loser. A game also includes rules no matter if your playing in the water or on land.
One of my personal experience,I was in a baseball team it was my team agains the "enemies." One of us haded to be the winner or the loser. It was duff with rules but thats how the game goes.!!!
“It was a sad scene when the choppers came to take us away. Jimmy Cross gave the old poppa-san a hug. Mitchell Sanders and Lee Strunk loaded him up with boxes of C-rations” - O’Brian
-It was a war. I feel this is a war because Mitchell Sanders and Lee Strunk load up with C-rations to servive. No I can't connect my own experience with it.
