THE THINGS I CARRY -11/29/2006-
Quick write 1-17-07:
Making an enemy is almost the same way as making a new friend for the first time, the only different is that you
dislike them for the way they talk, look, or act. For example, you see a person in the street and with out even knowing
them you dislike them. Another way in making an enemy simply could start with a friendship that could end up
destroyed because, one of them either talk shit, back staved you, lies, betrayed, steals, and even competes against you
for something or someone, with out you knowing. A friendship could also end up destroyed because both of you
always disagree with each others opinions, believes, or even their ideas. You could even lose a friend because a girl or
a boy. For example, my friends Tommy and Jimmy were good friends. Tommy was with this girl name Vanessa for 3
months and Jimmy had a little crush on her but didn't told Tommy at all. So one day I found out that Tommy broke up
with Vanessa because she cheated on him with Jimmy. This is an example of betrayed/ back staving.

Comments on "The Things They Carried"
"There were red checkers and black checkers. The playing field was laid out in a strict grid, no tunnels or mountains or jungles. You knew where you stood. You knew the score. The pieces were out on the board, the enemy was visible, and you could watch the tactics unfolding into larger strategies. There was a winner and a loser. There were rules" - O’Brian
-I feel this was a game, a very important game.
I think this is an important game because in every game their is a winner and a loser. A game also includes rules no matter if your playing in the water or on land.
One of my personal experience,I was in a baseball team it was my team agains the "enemies." One of us haded to be the winner or the loser. It was duff with rules but thats how the game goes.!!!
“It was a sad scene when the choppers came to take us away. Jimmy Cross gave the old poppa-san a hug. Mitchell Sanders and Lee Strunk loaded him up with boxes of C-rations” - O’Brian
-It was a war. I feel this is a war because Mitchell Sanders and Lee Strunk load up with C-rations to servive. No I can't connect my own experience with it.
